When a facial costs over $4k and draws people from around the world, you know it’s good—but also incredibly exclusive. Such is the case with the famous Diamond InstaFacial, which is why Jason B. Diamond, M.D., F.A.C.S., Beverly Hills based double board-certified facial plastic surgeon, decided to launch the at-home version with his new line, Dr. Diamond's Metacine, consisting of two products best used in tandem. “It’s been a long time coming,” Dr. Diamond says. “I felt like I owed it to my patients, and I owed it to those that I may never get the chance to meet.”
Known for his natural aesthetic and innovation tactics, people flock from all over seeking treatment with Dr. Diamond. Founder of The Diamond Face Institute, he’s known from Dr. 90210 and Netflix’s The Celebrity Plastic Surgeons of Beverly Hills. “I’m a facial plastic surgeon and I built my reputation on the results of my Diamond Facial Rejuvenation procedures, which is where I combine a facelift and necklift with other face-enhancing procedures such as a browlift, blepharoplasty, lip lift, customized facial implants, etc. for a comprehensive approach and outcome,” Dr. Diamond says. “I do the same with my Diamond Facial Sculpting technique, maximizing the beauty of each feature by creating harmony between them.
“Whether I am performing a procedure surgically or non-surgically, I have instilled the principle of synergy in every element of what I do. Why rely on one technique when I can combine them to achieve a superior result? With skin, most surgeons don’t think of skincare as a priority because we are taught to be consumed by its underlying structures. I couldn’t accept that. The face and neck will always look their best when the skin looks its best, and that is why I have spent my career experimenting and innovating techniques and procedures to perfect both. I employed the same synergistic mentality when developing the Diamond InstaFacial.”
The Diamond InstaFacial is far from a regular facial. The anti-aging treatment focuses on the body’s natural healing properties and capabilities to keep the skin in a continued state of collagen production, since collagen naturally decreases as we age. Each facial is customized according to an individual patient’s needs, but typically it starts with a blood draw for PRP, aka platelet-rich plasma, which is injected into the face to stimulate new collagen and hyaluronic acid production. Additionally, a laser and microneedling is done to activate the skin’s regenerative function. The combination of these treatments work synergistically to deliver rejuvenated skin that’s smoother, firmer and brighter. Another reason the facial is so popular is because the quick-healing treatment has zero downtime, or as Dr. Diamond puts it, no “hideout period.”
“I curated a custom multi-modality medical treatment that would maximize the benefits of laser technology, platelet-rich plasma, microneedling and collagen infusion, rather than accepting one of these techniques as enough,” Dr. Diamond says. “That way, we could also minimize downtime without compromising efficacy, as so many of my patients cannot afford downtime. It quickly became a cult favorite and renowned globally because patients witnessed firHowever, with a hefty price tag and geographical limitations, Dr. Diamond realized the Diamond InstaFacial wasn’t a reality for everyone, so he brought it to them. “I always knew that not everyone would be afforded the opportunity to have an InstaFacial let alone monthly or quarterly like my patients do, so I became fixated on bottling its effects so that everyone could experience it,” he says. “From my medical knowledge and experience, coupled with this desire was born Dr. Diamond's Metacine and its debut duo, the InstaFacial Collection Plasma and Emulsion. I believe ‘the whole is greater than the sum of its parts,’ and now I just brought this same idea of synergy to clinical skincare.”
Not only can the InstaFacial Collection Plasma and Emulsion be used to recreate the facial at-home, but they can also be applied post InstaFacial to prolong the results of the in-office procedure. “In clinic, my InstaFacial is aimed at activating cells to send signals in our skin to stimulate collagen and elastin production,” Dr. Diamond says. “Think of these products as a daily dose of the Diamond InstaFacial. They make up a dual-action system that works together to support the skin’s ability to repair and rebuild, constantly signaling and communicating. The human-identical bioactive growth factors in Metacine’s Plasma support our skin’s ability to stimulate collagen production, as the PRP does during the InstaFacial. At night, the Emulsion, fortified with a four-weight hyaluronic acid complex, deploys time-released bioactive retinoids, lipopeptides and niacinamide to stimulate skin rejuvenation without irritation. This ensures skin is optimally hydrated and refined to receive the plasma, and so continues the synergistic anti-aging cycle.”
Dr. Daimond's Metacine InstaFacial® Plasma is an infusion of potent bioidentical human growth factors that mimic the transformative effects of platelet-rich plasma that are found generously in healthy skin. The featherweight formula leaves the skin firmer, tighter and glowing, and results increase dramatically with continued use. The InstaFacial® Emulsion is formulated with time-released bioactive retinoids, lipopeptides, niacinamide and a hyaluronic acid complex to accelerate cell renewal to improve skin texture, support collagen production and plump the skin sans any irritation.
It took about six years to develop the products and perfect the formulas. Each time they were nearly at the finish line, a new novel ingredient was introduced and Dr. Diamond felt he had to incorporate it in order to have the most effective blend of bioactives. It also took time to ensure the formulas were safe for all skin tones and types and wouldn’t cause any irritation.
“Bottling the InstaFacial was not an easy task,” Dr. Diamond says. “Several different skin ailments had to be addressed, such as fine lines and wrinkles, lax skin and complexion. No one ingredient could do it. There is strength in numbers. No single molecule will trigger cells to repair and regenerate skin better than a synergistic complex of molecules. ‘Molecular synergy’ is my science of complex molecules formulated to work together to produce faster and greater skin rejuvenation.” He researched countless bioactive molecules for both products and tested different concentrations and combinations that would combine to create power molecules to deliver the clinical results of the InstaFacial.
To optimize results, it’s best to use both products together. “While they are amazingly effective solo, they activate what I call ‘molecular synergy’ when used in tandem,” Dr. Diamond says. “The cell-signaling ingredients within each formula communicate to optimize the other’s benefits and deliver profound, clinically-proven results. These two products (along with a cleanser and sunscreen) are formulated to serve as an entire anti-aging routine, but if you choose to use a vitamin C or other serums, they can be applied after Plasma.”
The best way to apply them is using the InstaFacial Plasma on clean, dry skin both morning and night. At night, immediately layer the InstaFacial Emulsion afterward. When used together consistently, people can expect to see changes in their skin within just a few days and will see more dramatic results with continued use, including improvement in tone and texture of the skin, improvement in pigmentation, reduction in fine lines and wrinkles, and firmer, more radiant skin.
While nothing beats having The Diamond InstaFacial in-office, this two-step system is the next best thing. “I wanted to find a way to combine as many human-identical bioactive growth factors as possible to mimic the effects of The Diamond InstaFacial and deliver comparable results,” Dr. Diamond says. “Metacine’s Plasma mimics the effects of the platelet-rich plasma, and I think of the Emulsion as a laser-in-a-bottle, delivering key actives that accelerate cellular renewal and repair, and fortified with hyaluronic acid complexes to nourish and moisturize. The body has its own innate signaling system to help organs, like the skin, regenerate themselves using cell-communicating molecules such as growth factors, proteins and peptides. The skin is the body’s largest organ, and the truth is that it requires a variety of biochemical molecules to keep itself healthy and youthful. The skin can absorb human-identical growth factors via topicals, so with these products you are taking what your body can do naturally to heal and repair and putting that capability into overdrive daily. Think of it as putting yourself on a pathway of youth preservation.”
Having the clinicals to back this up was imperative to Dr. Diamond. “So much of what is out right now is rated on trends and fads,” he says. “I believe clinical skincare must be clinically proven. I was adamant about putting my formulations to the test. I not only wanted glowing reviews from even my most discerning patients, but I also wanted measurable, objective proof.” Before launch, they completed a clinical trial with 28 women and seven men, averaging age 55, representing all skin types on the Fitzpatrick scale. They replaced their normal skincare routines with the InstaFacial Collection and were evaluated at baseline, four weeks and eight weeks by a clinical investigator using the highest standard of instrumentation. Dr. Diamond says, “The marathon was worth it because the results exceeded even my own expectations, and that’s pretty hard to do.”
